Discreet Sex Toys: Small, Quiet and Plainly Packed

Umbra air-pulse stimulator in onyx and gold

Discreet sex toys come down to three things: a size that is easy to carry and to put away, a sound level you are comfortable with, and a plain parcel when your order arrives. You can check size and noise on each product page in our Shop all collection, wherever the manufacturer gives them, and every order ships in plain outer packaging.

Small: discreet sex toys for travel and storage

Size is the first thing to look at if you share a home, travel often or simply want a toy that fits in a drawer. Words such as ‘mini’ and ‘compact’ have no fixed meaning, so look for the measurements instead and picture them next to something you know well, such as your phone.

  • Umbra is an air-pulse stimulator of about 11.7 × 4.2 cm, according to the manufacturer, who describes it as small enough for a pocket or a weekend bag.
  • Opaline measures about 8.4 × 4.1 cm, as stated by the manufacturer. It is worn in your underwear, a magnetic clip keeps it in place and the rhythm is set from a smartphone app; the manufacturer gives about an hour of use from about two hours of charging.
  • Étoile is a mini wand massager of about 20 cm which, in the manufacturer's words, packs easily for a weekend away.

If you would like a partner to hold the controls of Opaline, at home or out for the evening, agree on the rules together before you start. Our guide to long-distance and app-controlled vibrators explains how app control works and what to think about before you share it.

When you travel, pack the toy clean and dry, with its charging cable, where its buttons cannot be pressed by accident. Umbra, Opaline and Étoile come with a gift box, according to their product pages, so each one has its own place in a bag or a drawer.

At home, our care advice also helps with privacy. Clean the toy before and after every use with warm water and mild soap or a toy cleaner, charge it with the cable supplied and keep the charging contacts dry, then store it in a cool, dry place, separately from other toys. Its own box or a soft pouch keeps it out of sight; a drawer that locks also keeps it out of reach of children.

Quiet: how to read noise claims

Noise is harder to judge from a product page than size. How much you hear depends on the setting, the room and what the toy is resting on, so take every claim as a guide rather than a promise.

Product pages give two kinds of noise information. A figure in decibels is a measurement, although the conditions of the measurement, such as distance and mode, are not stated. A word such as ‘quiet’ is the manufacturer's description rather than a number. In our range, this is what the manufacturers say:

  • Umbra is the only piece with a noise figure: under 50 dB, according to the manufacturer.
  • Lunaria, a pinpoint vibrator of about 17.5 cm, has what the manufacturer calls a quiet motor.
  • Selenite, an automatic stroker for him, is described by the manufacturer as having a quiet design.

For every other toy, Opaline and Étoile included, the manufacturer gives no information about noise. That does not make them loud, and it does not make them quiet: there is simply no claim to go on.

Whatever the toy, a few habits help. Start on the lowest setting and, if you put the toy down while it is running, choose a towel or a pillow rather than a hard surface such as a bedside table, which can carry the sound. If air pulses are new to you, our guide to rose-shaped and other air-pulse toys explains how they differ from vibration.

Plainly packed: what the parcel shows and what it does not

Here is what discreet delivery means at Siluniva. Every order ships in plain outer packaging with no brand or product images. The parcel shows your address and the carrier's tracking label; international parcels also carry a customs declaration describing the contents.

Plain, then, does not mean blank. There are no brand or product images on the outside, but the label and, when an order crosses a border, the customs declaration are part of the parcel.

For delivery estimates and the countries we ship to, see our shipping and delivery page. Once your order is on its way, you can follow it from Track your order, and our FAQ answers common questions about packaging and returns. When you are ready to browse, every piece is in our Shop all collection, with the manufacturer's specifications on each product page.

Questions

How discreet is the parcel?

The outer packaging is plain, with no brand or product images. The parcel shows your address and the carrier's tracking label, and international parcels also carry a customs declaration describing the contents.

How can I store sex toys privately?

Clean and dry each toy, then keep it in a cool, dry place, separately from other toys: in its box, a soft pouch or a drawer that locks. Keep toys and cables out of reach of children.

Are small sex toys less powerful?

Not necessarily: it depends on the toy, and size alone says little about how it will feel. Look at the type of stimulation, the modes and the manufacturer's data on each product page, and start on the lowest setting whatever the size.

Which toys are described as quiet?

Lunaria, with a quiet motor, and Selenite, with a quiet design, in the manufacturer's words. Umbra is the only one with a figure: under 50 dB, according to the manufacturer. For the others, no noise information is given.

Can I take a sex toy when I travel?

Rules are set by airlines and by the countries you visit, so check them before you go. Then pack the toy clean, dry and switched off, with its cable, where the buttons cannot be pressed.
